Durham Marenghi has designed the lighting for a wide variety of Theatre, Opera, Dance, Trade, Concert, Live Event, Heritage and Television Productions worldwide and is the first British Lighting Designer to have lit the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of an Olympic Games. Durham also lit the critically acclaimed DIAMOND JUBILEE CONCERT in June 2012 for which he and his team were awarded a Royal Television Society Craft Award and nominated for a BAFTA Television Craft Award. In February 2013 Durham was awarded LIGHTING DESIGNER OF THE YEAR at the TPi Awards in London.

THEATRE designs include the world tour of DIAMONDS for Holiday on Ice, DANCING ON ICE - THE TOUR since 2008; ROMEO AND JULIET at the Piccadilly Theatre; PETER PAN at the Royal festival Hall; DASH and THE HOT SHOE SHOW for Wayne Sleep; BACK WITH A VENGEANCE for Barry Humphries at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane; THE WOMEN at The Old Vic; THE ANCIENT MARINER for Michael Bogdanov at The Young Vic; DAPHNE and TAMBURLAINE for Philip Prowse at Opera North; ICE ADVENTURES for Torvill and Dean; ICE MAJESTY and ELECTRIC ICE for Robin Cousins; ICECAPADES tour of Canada; LE ICE SHOW at the Luxor Hotel, Las Vegas.

LENNON, THE MUSICAL at the Astoria Theatre; THE MERCHANT OF VENICE for Michael Attenborough; LE NOZZE DI FIGARO and IL SERAGLIO for Giles Havergal at The Welsh National Opera; THE REPRESENTATIVE and JOAN OF ARC at The Citizens' Theatre, Glasgow; PRISONER OF CELL BLOCK H with Lily Savage at the Queen's Theatre; the UK tour and German Production of SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER for Arlene Philips and European tours of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, THE MUSIC OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER and JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR.

TRADE designs include the Creative Direction of a multimedia event to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the TAJ HOTEL Mumbai, India; the lighting design for the Volkswagen 'Big Box' multimedia theatre at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2001; the 1999 JORDAN FORMULA 1 car reveal at the London Palladium; BRITISH AIRWAYS IMPACT DAY, a multi-media event on the River Thames; an Orascom Telecom Celebration at the PYRAMIDS in GIZA for which Durham was nominated for A MIDDLE EASTERN LIGHTING DESIGN AWARD; a Major Civic and Television launch of the FIAT 500 in TURIN, 2007; the 70th Birthday party celebration of the CINECITTA FILM STUDIOS in Rome and over two hundred product launches, conferences and exhibition designs for a wide variety of business clients worldwide.

CONCERT events include BACK TO THE EARTH, a mammoth son-et-lumiere for Isao Tomita on the River Hudson, New York; CLASSICAL SPECTACULAR for Raymond Gubbay at the Royal Albert Hall and arenas and stadiums throughout Europe and Australia; EXPO`92 BRITISH DAY CONCERT for Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber in Seville; EQUALITY `94 AND `95 featuring Sting, Elton John, Alison Moyet and East 17; the European tour of ANDREA BOCELLI for Barry Marshall; THE MUSIC OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER in the grounds of Woburn Abbey and at St Paul's Cathedral and several carol concerts for Cancer research UK at St Paul's Cathedral.

FASHION events include THE CLOTHES SHOW LIVE at the NEC, Birmingham; THE BRITISH FASHION WEEKEND for the DTI in Warsaw; PHILIP TREACY at the London, Paris and New York Fashion Weeks and the illumination of exhibitions at the DESIGN MUSEUM in London for Philip Treacy, Manolo Blahnik and Peter Saville.

PERMANENT INSTALLATIONS: Durham has formed an Architectural lighting company LUMITECT which offers theatrical lighting design to Architects and their clients; projects include the interior specialist lighting for THE SPACE CENTRE in Bremen Germany, the largest indoor theme park in Europe for which Durham won an International Illumination Design Award; KING HENRY'S KEEP at Dover Castle; THE GLASS HOUSE in St Helens; the NUERBURGRING VISITORS CENTRE at Germany’s famous motor racing course, consultancy work for Architect Mark Fisher on the ‘HAN SHOW’ THEATRE in Wuhan and the WUHAN MOVIE THEME PARK in China and S.P.A.C.E. a charity project providing an environment for handicapped children utilising lighting for sensory therapy.

TELEVISION broadcasts include the critically acclaimed DIAMOND JUBILEE CONCERT in June 2012 and the QUEEN'S GOLDEN JUBILEE LIGHT AND FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA at Buckingham Palace in June 2002; the event lighting of THE WALL for Roger Waters in Berlin 1990, arguably the biggest rock show of that decade; THE WORLD STUDENT GAMES opening ceremony from Sheffield Stadium; RED SQUARE INVITES, an Arts festival from Moscow featuring Jose Carreras and the Mosseiyev Ballet; THE CLASSICAL MUSIC AWARDS from the Symphony Hall, Birmingham and the Royal Albert Hall, London; SHIRLEY BASSEY IN AUSTRIA for Andrew Bridge; CODEX, a Television game show for Channel 4 filmed at the BRITISH MUSEUM; the NEW YEAR'S EVE Light and Fireworks show from the LONDON EYE every year since 2004.

SAVE THE LAST DANCE FOR ME broadcast from the QEII in Cherbourg Harbour on the 50th Anniversary of D-Day with Bob Hope and Dame Vera Lynn; A GOSPEL SPECIAL from the London City Temple, broadcast on Christmas Day; Channel Four Gospel Singer of the Year 2002; OMAN NATIONAL DAY `94 AND `95, stadium spectaculars featuring 25,000 Omani children; A CELEBRATION OF CHRISTMAS from Vienna with Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and Natalie Cole; MY SECRET PASSION for Michael Bolton at the Bellini Opera House in Catania, Sicily; the HONG KONG HANDOVER CEREMONY on June 30th, 1997.

ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER's 50TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION at the Royal Albert Hall; STANDING STONE and WORKING CLASSICAL for Sir Paul McCartney; THE CLASSICAL BRIT AWARDS 2000 from the Royal Albert Hall and the 2005 DUBAI WORLD CUP Opening Ceremony on the occasion of the famous horse race's 10th Anniversary; T200 from Trafalgar Square celebrating the 200th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF TRAFALGAR; the Royal Opening Ceremony of the ASPIRE SPORTS COMPLEX in Doha, Qatar; a BBC CHILDREN'S GARDEN PARTY at Buckingham Palace in honour of Her Majesty the Queen's 80th Birthday; the ROYAL OPENING of ST PANCRAS RAILWAY STATION in November 2007.

The WINTER OLYMPICS OPENING AND CLOSING CEREMONIES and the PARALYMPICS OPENING CEREMONY in Turin 2006; the LONDON 2012 OLYMPIC HANDOVER in Beijing 200; the OPENING CEREMONY of the headquarters of the OLYMPIC COUNCIL OF ASIA in Kuwait; the Royal launch of the cruise ships QUEEN VICTORIA and QUEEN ELIZABETH; the Inauguration of the DONBASS ARENA and the 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF SHAKHTAR FC in Donetsk, Ukraine and Durham was HDTV lighting consultant on a KOHAR ALL STARS concert in Armenia 2011 directed by Phil Heyes and the BICENTENNIAL CELEBRATIONS OF MEXICO from Zocalo Square, 2010. Durham designed the lighting of the DOW WRAP on the exterior of the LONDON 2012 OLYMPIC STADIUM from an original concept by Dave Keighley and Syncrolite.

Durham is a member of The British Academy of Film and Television Arts, The Society of British Theatre Designers, The Society of Television Lighting and Design, The Association of Lighting Designers and Equity and is an Honorary Fellow of Rose Bruford College.

In his leisure time Durham is a certified SCUBA diver and has undertaken conservation work in the Maldive Islands, he is also a keen fly fisherman. Durham with a 8lb 8oz rainbow trout caught at Syon Park whilst fishing with friend and colleague Peter Marshall of VLPS.
