The Donbass Arena in Donetsk, Ukraine was Inaugurated in August 2009 as the new stadium for Shakhtar FC soccer club. The show featured over 1200 volunteer performers, Ukrainian music stars, Shakthar football players and a finale by Beyonce with fireworks by Groupe F.
The ceremony was produced by Italian company K-Events with mass Choreography by Bryn Walters and Doug Jack, the Art Director was Lida Castelli, Production Director was Marco Astarita and the creative director for the event was Marco Balich.
The Associate Lighting Designer was Nick Jones and the lighting was supplied by Agora under the direction of Nicola-Manuel Tallino and programmed by Tim Routledge of GrandPA. Photographs by Jennie Marenghi.
