February 2004 saw the opening of Europe's biggest indoor theme park The Space Centre in Bremen, Germany's most important aviation and aerospace city. Unfortunately the Space Centre closed in October 2004 and we await news of a re-opening.

Durham designed the show lighting for the attractions and dark rides (except Robot Rescue) with a lighting budget of over 6,000,000 Euros and in 2006 received an International Illumination Design Award of Excellence for his design from the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America.

The Creative Director of the Space Centre was Bill Gorgensen on behalf of Space Centre Betriebs GmbH & Co.KG.

The Space Centre featured 3D and 4D movies from Stargate and Star Trek and had 22,000 sqm of indoor space.

The Lighting Installation was managed by Atelier Ratz GmbH and the Associate Lighting Designer was Nick Jones
